One of the best ways that parents can help their teenage children prepare for adult life is to encourage them to take a part-time job.
1. Some parents believe that taking the part-time job is one of the best ways for their teenage children to improve themselves and prepare for adult life. From my point of view, taking part-time job is a good choice to educate the teenage children, but it is not the only one option. There are many good ways for teenage children to be well-prepared for their adult life.
Admittedly, taking part-time job is good for the teenage children to prepare for adult life in advanced. As the old saying goes live experience is one of the best teachers in our life. Encouraging teenage children to take the part-time job is sensible, as jobs bring them some different experience outside school. From the part-time job, they would learn working experience, and learn communicate techniques, working skills and put what they have learn fully into use. I believe that all of the experience would benefit the teenage children in future life. What is more, taking part-time job may help teenage children find out they are truly interested in, which helps them find a dream job. Undoubtedly, taking part-time job is a good measure to help teenage children for their adult life.
However, taking part-time job is not the only one way for the teenager students to prepare for adult life. In order to well-armed for grow-up life, parents could also ask their children read more. Teenagers can gain a lot of useful acknowledge from book. For example, teenagers can experience somebody’s life when they go through the author’s biography. When they confront some difficult issue, maybe they can find out the solution from the book. Children also learn more the world development and trend through reading, which will help them to lift to a high level. In conclusion, learning is also an important way that cannot be forgotten, by reading autobiography, newspaper and magazine, students broaden their horizon and gain a better standing of the world. The knowledge is always valuable and is able to help teenage better prepared for their adult life.
To sum up, encourage teenagers to take part time job is a good way for helping them better equip for adult life. But, it should not be the only one way.
2. Before a teenager becomes a young adult and earn their own living, his parents must help them to prepare for the future life so that they could become totally independent. There must be many ways to help these ambitious young people, but in my point of view, part-time jobs should be the most appropriate way to help them. By taking part-time jobs at a young age, the young generation can be involved in the society without suffering.
By taking part-time jobs, teenagers could appreciate hard working and cherish the money they’ve made. Therefore, in the future, they are more likely to become hard-working adults and know how to do finance management. Take myself as an example. I used to be very lazy and usually wasted my pocket money on useless things. But one summer vacation, I took a part-time job as a tutor. It was not an easy job because the kid I taught was really naughty and the weather is really hot, but finally I got good pay. After that, I did not waste any money, and I knew the value of hard-working.
Additionally, by taking some part-time jobs, teenagers will learn some useful communicating techniques. This is very essential since we all live in a society and we have to communicate with different kinds of people almost every day. One of my friends took a part-time job as a waiter. He had to deal with a lot of different situations and have to cater to different customers. Time passed, he became very good at communicating with different people, but in the past he was really shy and unwilling to speak to strange people! The part-time job helped to lift him to a new height.
Moreover, since teenagers accumulate useful experiences from part-time jobs, they are more likely to gain success in their future career. In addition, sometimes taking part-time jobs may offer teenagers good opportunities. My sister, when she was a junior, took a part-time job in a big company. During that time, her hard work and intelligence impressed her boss. Then her boss gave her and offer and after her graduation, she became one of the employees of the big company. Now she makes a very good living and works happily in this company. Chances are invaluable and we need to find ways to get the chances.
So, to conclude, though there may be other ways, I believe that taking part-time jobs will be the best way to prepare a teenager to be an ambitious adult. Parents who plan to help their teenagers prepare for the future life could take part-time jobs into consideration.
3. As with all significant decisions, parents often have a difficult time deciding whether it is best to encourage their teenagers towards or against part-time jobs. The answers vary from parent to parent. Personally, I think that encouraging children to take part-time jobs is one of the best ways for parents to help their teenage children prepare for adult life.
Firstly, I think teenagers learn responsibility, time-management, and vital social skills when they do part-time jobs. It cannot be denied that when you work as an employee, you must follow the working schedule. It means that every day you have to come to work on time. For example, if your work starts at 8 a.m. you have to be there at 8 a.m. It doesn’t matter if you went to a party a night before and do not want to get up. You have to learn to stick to your commitments and uphold your responsibilities. In addition, if teenagers work for a restaurant or a store, they will learn how to serve customers in a friendly manner, garnering valuable social skills in the process.
Secondly, through working a part-time job, teenagers learn the value of money. Children often get money from their parents, but they do not realize how hard their parents work for that money. When teenagers work, they will begin to appreciate how difficult it can be to make money. Knowing that it takes a lot of time and effort to make money, teenagers will make wiser choice when managing their own money. Also, when teenagers spend their money buying what they want, they will appreciate their purchases more than if they had gotten money from their parents.
Finally, teenagers learn valuable team-working skills when they work as a member of a team at a part-time job. Working teenagers will learn how to share their work and count on each other to fulfil the work goals. In addition, teenagers will learn many valuable communication skills as they are forced to rely upon their co-workers. If one of the team members is ill or unable to work due to personal reasons, the others are willing to help them and do extras work to compensate. This is a very great experience for teenagers and helps them become more mature and successful adults.
In sum, taking part-time job can benefit teenagers quite a bit by teaching them valuable skills that will help them achieve greater success as adults. They will learn responsibility, value of money , communication skills and how to work effectively as part of a team
