It is undeniable that population explosion is a serious problem in modern society and the problem is continuing into be a global issue. I would like to explore the major causes of the phenomenon in the following essay.
There are a number of factors contributing to the increasing population. First of all, the advancement of medical science prolongs people’s life expectancy. Nowadays, scientists find cures for various diseases that used to be fatal. As a result, the number of patients who die from them decreases dramatically. In addition, some governments encourage birth to stimulate domestic demand. Because of the hard economic realities, it is difficult to keep the rising trend in economic growth in many countries. Consequently, some of them allow citizens to give birth to more babies to stimulate the economy, such as the subsequent need of large apartments.
I believe that the rising population is the most severe problem faced by humanity. Some people are likely to hold an opposite view, arguing that there are other more serious issues, such as environmental pollution and the energy crisis. However, it is generally believed that the root cause of the aforementioned problems is still population explosion. As we know, pollution is often caused by human activities and the excessive consumption of resources, such as fossil fuels, contributes to the shortage of certain energy resrouces.
