A time when you were very busy

Chinese New Year is an important traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the first day of the year of the Chinese calendar. In China, it is also known as the Spring Festival.

Chinese New Year celebrations traditionally run from Chinese New Year's Eve, the last day of the last month of the Chinese calendar, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month, making the festival the longest in the Chinese calendar and as well, it is the busiest time of most Chinese.

Week before the Chinese New Year, Chinese are always tied up with Spring Festival shopping for the most significant Chinese festival. People also spend a lot of time thoroughly cleaning the house, in order to sweep away any ill-fortune and to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red color paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of "good fortune" or "happiness", "wealth", and "longevity."

Starting from the New Year’s Eve, the fifteen-day celebration then, is all about visiting relatives and friends, get-togethers, big meals and stuff. Children are busy receiving red envelops, which is used to suppress or put down the evil spirit) during this period.

In addition to red envelopes, which are usually given from elder to younger, small gifts are also exchanged between friends or relatives during Chinese New Year.

Busy as Chinese New Year is, it is still considered as the most significant and anticipating festival.
